Mary Gergen, Ph.D., is Associate Professor of Psychology and Women’s Studies at Pennsylvania State University, as well as Division Head of Psychology for the Commonwealth College. She is author of Impious Improvisations: Feminist Reconstructions in Psychology, and co-editor of Toward a New Psychology of Gender and co-author of textbooks in social psychology, introductory psychology and statistics. Her research interests include women’s adult development and public notions of safety and security. She is also a founding member of the Taos Institute. In this program she discusses her thoughts about the co-opting of Appreciative Inquiry as a method by Organizational Development and its potential use in psychotherapy settings.
