LOIS SHAWVER-BOOK-NOSTALGIC POSTMODERNISM
LOIS SHAWVER-BOOK-NOSTALGIC POSTMODERNISM
This readable book tells the story of postmodernization in western culture and especially the story of the postmodernization of therapists in recent times.
"Nostalgic postmodernism" is the name Shawver gives to an early guilt ridden phase of an individual's postmodernization. The nostalgic postmodern longs for an earlier time, a time of innocent trust in the experts who tell clinicians how to do therapy. But sooner or later, for most postmoderns, all of this turns into an inspired eclecticism and participation in the collaborative development of new ideas and new practices.
"Nostalgic Postmodernism" is the first volume in a trilogy on "Postmodern Therapy". The two books to come will be: Visionary Postmodernism and Clinical Postmodernism.
